Sponsor Organizations

We have recruited a great group on local Durham non-profit organizations to be a part of our 5th Charity Softball Season and we’re really excited to support and unite these incredible causes. For more information on the team sponsors that you’ll be playing for, and against, during the season, please check out these organizations below.

During the season, each team will be competing to win donations for their Sponsor Organization. The amount each Sponsor earns during the season is determined based on team’s results during the season. Basically, if your team wins a game, places in the Top 4 during the regular season, or does well in the playoffs, then your charity will receive a larger donation from Durham Softball at the end of the season. For details, check out the details of our Sponsor Donation Pool.

You do not need to have any type of previous affiliation with any of these organizations in order to play for their team. You can choose the play for any team you’d like, for any reason. We hope you’ll learn a little about each sponsor’s mission and find a cause that you fully support so you are excited about helping them out every week on the ball field.

If you have any questions, please ask!

Team Registration

If you have at least 16 players who can commit to playing softball on Sundays and think you can field a team of 10+ players every week, you should sign up as a Team.

  1. Select the number of jerseys your team will need in each size. Your total should add up to 16-20 jerseys.
  2. Choose the order of preference for your Team Sponsor selections. Assignments will be made in the order the registrations are received. You are not guaranteed to have your choices.
  3. Please note your teammates’ names and email addresses on your order under the “Order Notes” section at Checkout prior to proceeding to PayPal.

Final Team Assignments will be made on March 17, or ASAP within 48 hours of the final Spring registration deadline on March 15, 2020. If we are unable to match you with one of your Top 4 charity preferences, we will contact your Team Captain by email to discuss options.

Team Assignments will always prioritize keeping groups together over playing for a specific team, so you will always get to play with your friends regardless of what charity you are assigned. We hope all of our charities are considered worthy of your time and effort on the field.

If you want Free Agents added to your Team, please contact us and we’ll try to accommodate your request.

Divisions

To accommodate potential demand for more than 16 teams this season, we’re opening up the option for a 2nd division. If we have 18 or more teams register to play this season, we will have to split the league into an Upper and Lower Division based on reported player skill levels to make games more fun and evenly matched.

A few notes about the differences to help you choose which Division to sign up for:

  • Upper Division will be the most competitive. If you want to play against the best teams and players in our league, sign up for the Upper Division.
    • If your returning team had a winning record in the Spring or Summer 2019 season of Durham Softball, you will be placed in this division automatically.
  • Lower Division will be much more recreational. If you are inexperienced and want a more relaxed game, sign up for the Lower Division.
    • Some games in the Lower Division may be played at Hillside Park in Durham, which is about 2 miles away from our current field at Shepard Middle School.

When registering, please select the option that you think would allow you to have the most fun while playing the game. This will only come in to play if we have 18 or more teams register this season.

$5 Fee Increase From 2019

We have increased the price of the individual registration by $5/player and the team registrations by $50/team this season for two reasons:

  • Play NC and the Durham Softball League will be sponsoring a Miracle League of the Triangle team. Our league will become the first sponsor of the new Miracle League of Durham field that is being developed adjacent to the current Durham Bulls stadium, with the first season hopefully launching this Fall. We will be sponsoring a team based in Raleigh this Spring until we’re able to move the sponsorship to Durham. The fee to support this great organization was $1500 per year, or about $3 per player, per season.
  • We will be providing scholarships for kids to play baseball and softball. Too many kids aren’t able to play sports because their parents can’t afford the registration fees and equipment. We will be paying the registration fees and equipment costs for 4 or 5 worthy kids from low-income families so they can play baseball and softball this season.

We hope to directly support the other baseball-related organizations in our league and help grow the game. Your extra $5 contribution will sponsor an entire team of Miracle Leaguers and several Little Leaguers who might not have been able to play ball this year, so we appreciate your support!

Signing Up as a Team, but Paying Individually

The cheapest option is to pay $800 + Tax in one transaction. However, if your team wants to sign up individually, please have your teammates add your Team Captain’s name at Checkout when they pay for their individual registration. We will group everyone together by your Captain’s name and make sure you all play on the same team. Fair warning – if 16-20 Players want to sign up by themselves, your team will pay more for registration. That could potentially be an expensive convenience fee, but the extra funds will be used to maintain our field and certainly go to a good cause.

Refund Policy

We promise a 100% satisfaction guarantee. Because your refund will be reducing our Donation Pool, we hope you’ll give us a chance to fix any problems before it gets to that point. However, you can still request a refund for any reason. You will have to actually give a reason (so we can try to fix it for the next player), but any reason will be accepted. After the start of the season, prorated refunds will be honored if you are not satisfied with our league for any reason.
